BBD has been providing a safe and reliable community blood supply for nearly 70 years. It serves as a vital community lifeline dedicated to helping patients and advancing global public health.
As a division of New York Blood Center Enterprises (NYBCe), BBD is part of a network that is internationally recognized. NYBCe develops products with the potential to have a worldwide humanitarian impact. Notable achievements include solvent detergent technology to manufacture safe plasma products, the first hepatitis B virus detection test, and injectable anti-HIV drugs. NYBCe was also the first to introduce convalescent plasma to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
