ELKTON, Md. – The Terumo Fiscal Year Quarter Four Blood Drive on Thursday, March 6 registered 52 donors, and pulled in 48 units of blood, thereby giving Blood Bank of Delmarva a spring in its step a few days before the official spring forward date.

Terumo is a global medical device company that originated in Japan, and has manufacturing plants in Elkton, Maryland, among other places. Among the devices they make are the blood bags used by Blood Bank of Delmarva.

Blood drive coordinator Stephanie Eskridge, Occupational Health Nurse for the Terumo Medical Corporation and Terumo Cardiovascular, thanked supervisors and associates for supporting the blood drive and for actively recruiting 15 walk-in appointments during the spring edition of this quarterly blood drive.

Eskridge called the event “a resounding success.”. “The overwhelming amount of participation in the Delmarva Blood Drive donation process brings our Terumo Medical Corporation and Terumo Cardiovascular teams together in an effort to contribute to society through healthcare.”

Jason Painter, coordinator of the annual In Honor of Maverick Blood, stopped by the blood drive to thank Eskridge, as she donated double red cells, and other donors at the Terumo spring blood drive. Painter is a technician at Terumo Cardiovascular, and his son, Maverick, needed blood as a premature baby. The annual In Honor of Maverick Blood Drive will be held in September.
