On July 22, we had the privilege of celebrating an incredible milestone at Blood Bank of Delmarva’s Dover Donor Center as Curtis Marker completed his 200th platelet donation!

While Curtis began donating blood in the 1950s, his platelet donation journey started in 1998. Two hundred platelet donations represent hundreds of hours spent giving hope to patients who depend on lifesaving transfusions.

“I really wanted to help cancer patients, especially children fighting cancer,” Curtis said.

To mark the occasion, Curtis was treated with a cake. He also brought along a very meaningful keepsake—his longtime Blood Bank of Delmarva cup, where he’s kept a handwritten tally of every platelet donation he’s ever made. Curtis, your compassion, dedication, and generosity are truly inspiring.
