Bear, Del. – The Shree Swaminarayan Temple of Delaware celebrated its 10th anniversary by hosting a first-ever blood drive on Sunday, July 7th, at the temple in Bear, Delaware. This event, part of a grand three-day celebration, resulted in the collection of 19 units of blood.

Starting with just three appointments, the drive saw a heartwarming response from the temple community, with over 16 attendees walking in to donate blood and help save lives.

The anniversary celebrations attracted visitors from around the world and featured a rich tapestry of religious and cultural activities, including Indian dance, religious sermons, traditional Indian instrumental music, and delectable vegetarian Indian cuisine. Adding to the festivities was North America’s only Indian American bagpipe band, Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band USA, many of whose members proudly participated as donors.

Kishan Patel, the blood drive coordinator, played a pivotal role in organizing this event. He was seen encouraging devotees to donate and explained the inspiration behind the drive: “One of our organization’s core principles includes helping others in need,” he said. “We hold blood drives all across the globe and felt that this 10th anniversary of Shree Swaminarayan Temple of Delaware would be a great opportunity to help our community.

Blood Bank of Delmarva (BBD) aims to foster relationships with diverse groups within the community, and are thrilled to continue building partnerships with the Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan organization. This non-profit Hindu religious and cultural organization promotes spiritual, cultural, and social welfare worldwide, and we are honored to support their mission, one droplet at a time.

The exceptional customer service and professionalism from Supervisor, Collections Daisy Tannen and her team were praised by many donors.
