Christina Gallagher regularly donates her valuable, B negative-type blood, but this summer she’s stepping things up to the next level to help with an important, community blood drive.

Gallagher is the blood drive coordinator for the Schrader Strength Blood Drive set for Saturday, August 3 in honor of Kevin Schrader. Gallagher’s husband works with Schrader, who along with his wife, Courtney, are all Delaware State Police troopers.

Kevin and Courtney Schrader are the parents of three girls. The youngest turns 1 this July.

Kevin is a United States Air Force veteran who served two overseas deployments before becoming a Delaware State Trooper. He has served the state of Delaware for almost 15 years.

“In May 2024 he was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia after a routine work physical,” Courtney said. “Kevin was immediately admitted for intense treatment for approximately 5 1/2 weeks. During this time, he’s had four whole blood transfusions and five platelet transfusions. Treatment will continue for at least a year and a half to three years.”

The Schrader Strength Blood Drive is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, August 3 at Delaware State Police Troop 3, 3759 S. State St, Camden-Wyoming, DE. Please call 1-888-8-BLOOD-8 or make an appointment online to donate at this blood drive. Their goal is to book more than 30 donors at this inaugural event. “(SECRET PHRASE: BY)”
